Dupa The Portraits Of Behind

DUPA THE PORTRAITS OF BEHIND

Dupa means "ass" in Polish. We say everything starts from ass and finishes on it.

As a child, I was asking people if they had an ass, and although everyone laughed, I was completely serious. In my mind, if we all have an ass, we are all the same. We all have the same needs, we all poop, and we all have to deal with our "shit" every day. Anyway for years I kept in my mind that everyone has ass and that many times helps me be more empathetic.

Except for my late great grandmother she was the only person I knew who didn't have one. At least, that's what she told me. I spent days trying to figure out how she expelled waste. Ironically, she died at the age of 84 from anus cancer.

Despite the fact I really want to see lots of people wearing nice clothes and walking around an art gallery sipping on glasses of prosecco while admiring the asses of strangers,

In all seriousness, I want to celebrate the diversity and beauty of this not overlooked body part, without sexualizing it. Imperfections are what make us gorgeous.

We spend a lot of time being harsh on ourselves, criticising ourselves, and comparing ourselves to others. Even though we have different experiences and different bodies. It's endless and exhausting. Sometimes it is good to go after advice of Julian Tuwim's poem "You All Kiss Me on My Arse," "The poem in which the author politely, but decisively asks the many fellow man to kiss him on the arse."

After hearing this poem for the first time the very same day I made my own list of people who can kiss my ass! And it was very liberating! I still do that sometimes ;)

After all, we are all just a bunch of assholes.

Porn or Love

PORN OR LOVE

Apparently art is a porn if your intention while created was to arouse your recipient.

Well my first intention was coming from love to act or the person I portrayed but do I not want you to have a boner looking at or thinking about my paintings? I'm conflicted here..
